Alternatives

Looking for a Quo alternative?

Quo (formerly OpenPhone) is a business phone system billed per user, and its AI receptionist, Sona, answers calls 24/7, answers common questions, captures caller details and logs every interaction. Every Quo plan includes 10 Sona calls a month, and more come from Sona’s own call-based plans. CoveredLine is a dedicated AI receptionist from $29 that books into the calendar you already use and hands urgent calls to a human.

Modeled from Quo's own published pricing and CoveredLine's own pricing, rounded to the nearest dollar. Average call length assumed at 3 minutes, with 1.25 calls per unique caller per month, 1.5 texts per unique caller per month and 0.5 website chats per unique caller per month, at one location with one phone number. A charge a provider does not publish is counted as $0. Quo bills its Sona AI receptionist per call on its own tiers, alongside a Quo phone plan billed per user; one user on the $15 Starter plan (billed annually) is added to its bar. It publishes no website chat and no per-text price. CoveredLine includes website chat on every plan and bills texts past a plan's allowance at 5 cents each.

Why CoveredLine.

A receptionist, not a phone-system add-on

Quo is a per-user business phone system with an AI receptionist, Sona, alongside it. CoveredLine is the receptionist itself: answering, booking, transfers and caller texting on every plan from $29, with no phone plan to buy first.

Metered by the minute, not by the call

Sona’s tiers include a number of calls, with overage from $1.00 down to $0.45 a call. Ours includes 150 minutes on the $29 Solo and bills $0.35/min past the plan, so a short call costs what it lasts.

Books into the calendar you already use

We read and write your real calendar - Google Calendar, Apple iCloud, Cal.com or any calendar that speaks CalDAV - so the receptionist offers only genuinely open slots, and a caller can reschedule or cancel on the phone.

Private by design

Call recording is off by default with a spoken consent notice; texting stays in the transactional TCPA lane; every business’s data is row-isolated; transcripts are never used to train models.

On pricing

Quo’s phone plans, billed annually: Starter $15, Business $23 and Scale $35 per user per month, with a seven-day free trial. Every plan includes 10 Sona calls a month. Sona’s own tiers: Free (10 calls, $1.00 per extra call), $25/mo (40 calls, $0.75), $49/mo (100 calls, $0.65), $99/mo (250 calls, $0.55) and $199/mo (600 calls, $0.45). Ours: $29 (150 min), $69 (350 min), $129 (650 min) and $199 (1,000 min), all with booking, human transfer and caller texting, $0.35/min overage, and a 7-day trial.

The verdict

If you want a full business phone system for a team, Quo sells one per user, with 10 Sona AI calls a month included and more on Sona’s own plans. If you want a dedicated AI receptionist that books into your calendar and reaches a human on every plan, CoveredLine starts at $29 for 150 minutes.
